SAP Appeal Letter Advice, Help is Appreciated

I was deemed ineligible for financial aid due to not meeting meeting GPA requirements at my new school. My cumulative GPA at my new school is 1.8. I transferred to my new school last fall and had a horrible first semester. I was placed on academic probation for the second semester. I improved my grades the second semester (and got out of probation), but my cumulative GPA still was under SAP guidelines. I have nowhere near some of the reasons posted on this board to not get good academic marks, but the first semester really screwed me up. It was my first time living alone and I got caught up in going to bars which did not benefit me. I also did not take advantage of the resources available to improve my grades and mismanaged my time. I stopped doing this the second semester, got out of probation, and did fine. I am just wondering how I should go about writing my appeal.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks
