Sarah Lawrence vs NYU Liberal Core

Hi, I recently got accepted to Sarah Lawrence College in Bronxville, NY and NYU of course in Manhattan.

I'm from NYC, so I'm not worried about that aspect.

I LOVE the idea of SLC's educational philosophy, including the dons (advisors) and discussion based classes. I am worried however that the school is too small in population and the name will not carry enough weight for employers.
NYU is a big name and a big school, but it may also be too impersonal for me. Also, the Liberal Arts Program/Core sounds like a junior college - I'm worried I'll be looked down upon by other students and future employers. Plus there is practically no course selection freedom.
I think I would go to NYU if I wasn't worried about the Core being considered remedial.

Anyone have any thoughts on this?

I have been a student at both NYU and Sarah Lawrence. I much preferred the intimate lifestyle of Sarah Lawrence. You really do get to know your professors and fellow students really well. I’ve learned so much and made lifelong friendships, and would never take back my experience for anything. Do not let your worries about future employers deter you from where you really want to be right now. Sarah Lawrence is an amazing school! Students tend to feel like they’re part of one big family. Students, administrators, and professors included. The freedom given to you at SLC can feel a little overwhelming, but it’s an experience you find nowhere else. Good luck with your decision! You’ve been accepted to two incredible schools!

Don’t decide where to go Bader on Name or prestige! Both are amazing places and whilst it is true that more people know NYU because of its size, employers and grad schools Are awareness of SLC, the education it provides. I went to NYU and although I enjoyed the experience, I didn’t like the fact that it had no Campus and for my taste was just too large. Looking back I would have gone to a small LAC rather than a big school, because I would have gotten more out of my education. The Name NYU didnt get me a paid job out of college, whereas my sister who went to SLC was encouraged to take Part in entrepreneurial Programmes with her classmates and is currently working in a startup. Both are Great places, but if you want to get the most out of your undergrad years go to a small LAC, in this Case SLC.
