Hello, I received my December scores this morning and was not particularly ecstatic with them, but satisfied.
Dec 2015 SAT:
780 Math
570 CR
550 Writing (8 Essay)
1900 composite
I was aiming for a 2000, but once school started I was not able to study at all, so my scores kind of plateaued. I’m not going to lie, I was not expecting a 780 in math, but I felt very good, and I feel strong in that subject now.
The thing I need help with now Is to help get me to AT LEAST a 2000 on the January 2016 SAT. I think my potential is super high because my reading and writing scores are so low, they can be improved. I just struggle to get these up.
Beginning of 2015 summer, I started with 630 math, 510 reading, and 530 writing. By the end of the summer, I was scoring 700 math (almost all careless errors), 530 reading, and 550 writing (one time I got a 600 in the BB).
I want to get into UT Austin and I am not top 7% at my school, so a way above average score could really help me out.
The books I have to study from are:
Blue Book
Erica Meltzer Ultimate Grammar Guide
Direct Hits Core Vocabulary Volume 1 5th Edition
Dr.Chung’s SAT math (Don’t really use, contains way harder problems than ever needed)
Before this SAT, I used 3 of the BB practice tests and glanced over Grammar guide and Chung’s. Now I am 100% dedicated this winter break to get my scores up. I take AP Eng Lang, but my reading comprehension is still not there.
My study plan right now is just to work through the whole Grammar guide, learn all 250 vocabulary words, and finish about 5 of the BB practice tests. I don’t think I will look over math at all next month, I am very confident in my abilities for that.
I started to work through the Grammar guide and I have finished up to the Cumulative Review 2, but it seems kind of hard to me and I did a practice section today and I got a 24 raw score on the 35 Q writing section, which is under a 600 score, not good. I don’t know if its because I have spent enough time on it, but I just want to be assured that it is going to work.
Can college confidential users help me compose a 1 month study plan to be able to bring up my composite score 100-200 points, basically all reading and writing points? Any tips or comments would be greatly appreciated. Tell me what you all think I can accomplish and how to do this in one month.
Thank you very much
