I'm planning on taking the math 1 on dec, and 've been doing some practice tests on Barrons math 1 preparation book. Now, i consistently score above 700s on the SAT math, but i've been getting low 600s on these Barrons practice tests. My question is: Is the math level 1 subject test a lot harder than SAT math? I'm a decent math student, i just don't get why I' m having trouble with these practice tests-especially when my GC told me that SAT math is almost identical to the SAT2 math level 1.

I found the Math SAT IIs (both I and II) contain harder math than that of the SAT math, because what's tricky about the SAT's math generally is how it's phrased. Math I and II are compiled of harder math in general.
I think Barron's produces slightly harder practice tests, so your score could potentially go up during the real test because it'll be easier than what you prepared with. Regardless, you should maybe take a practice test from Sparknotes or PR or another prep source for 1) more practice from a different source and 2) a gauge to see how accurate your scores are as a projected score.

Math I and Math II are straightforward, no confusing word problems like SAT I Math.

I am still worried about my score. ;-( And it was the only one i did for october. How bad can that be.

SAT Math - not as advanced material, but some of the harder questions require quite a bit of imagination/creativity.

SAT Subject Math - more straightforward, formulatic questions; require more knowledge to perform well on.

Basically, you must know your **** for subj tests, but you can think your way out of reasoning math.
