So I was so nervous yesterday especially since the proctor assigned seats, and I was the lucky one who sat right in front of her. I didn't finish my essay (only a page and a half). The proctor called time when I was halfway into my second example. :( So for the remainder of the test, my mood went downhill...
I felt like I skipped more than usual even in math, which is my strongest part.

Yesterday was my third time taking the test. First two times, I scored exactly the same (1910)... I was thinking about canceling my scores from yesterday and retaking them in November when I'll be more ready.

Can anyone give me some advice? :(
I've been shooting for the 2000+. I just need to get my 590 in cr to 650, and 610 in writing to 650+ (which means I have to get a double digit for essay) to reach my goal. But I really don't think I reached my goal from yesterday's test...

So should I retake it for the 4th time in November?
Or should I cancel yesterday's scores and retake it in November?
Or just leave it? (I'm afraid my 1910 won't get me into my target school which is a really competitive SUNY...)

take it a 4th time if you think it will help. I have asked numerous admissions counselors and they say that they do not care how many tests you take (as long as it is not 10) because they often just look at your highest scores. People seem to believe this myth that it is bad to take the SAT or ACT more than 3 times.

@ReesesPieces891 I looked at several threads about taking the SAT more than 3 times, and many said that adcoms roll their eyes when they see too many SATs… :/

@needstostudy Yeah, I finished both essays with only two examples (8 on both). Yesterday was the first time I was using that “10 steps to a 12 essay” method. It went pretty well, but it took so much time. I think if I practiced with the method more, I would’ve been faster.

If you know you will only improve a marginal amount (50-100 points) don’t bother. If you know you can do better (150-200+) than go ahead, I would say 4 in the limit though, you have probably reached your limit.

I’ve asked my regional rep from Vanderbilt and he said that he didn’t care how many times you take it. However, I am not sure taking it 4 or 5 times will improve your score. Like SAT100 said, you may have reached your limit.
