Hello!
I’m graduating in 2017 so I will have the oppurtunity to take the new SAT. I’m just finishing sophomore year and I know next year will be tough and I need some help choosing which test to take.
My interest is in math and science however my language vocab is not too shabby either.
Took the PSAT this year and got 1810 w/ no prep. So hopefully I’ll be able to improve it quite a bit.
FINALLY, to get to my question…
Would you suggest taking:
A) ACT, much more straightforward questions I’ve heard,
B) old SAT in oct/nov so I know what to expect, school supports the SAT more, but I will have less time to prep.
C) new SAT in April which will give me more time but I won’t be sure if I’m prepping right and the past papers etc might not be totally accurate.
Thanks for all your help!
STEM kids often do better on ACT. That was our experience. That may change with the new SAT.
If you take the ACT, you will have a longer time (through fall of Sr. year) to re-take to improve your scores if necessary.
Jan '16 is last date for old SAT. Far less time for you to re-take.
There is no official prep material for the new SAT, and it will take awhile for it to be developed. 3rd party guides are likely to take far longer and the quality is unlikely to be great during rev 1.0
You will get the new PSAT next fall, so I suppose I would see how you did first and decide whether to take the new SAT. There is no downside to taking the ACT as I see it.
Do the ACT. I got a 2160 on SAT but I’m a strong STEM person so if I were you, choose the ACT.got a 34 which is a huge difference
strange enough for me i am a stronger stem student but find the SAT easier…
