SAT and ACT English very similar?

D has a SAT tutor who says she only tutors SAT. D has decided to take ACT as well. Are the tests similar enough or should we be shopping for a tutor who covers both? Thanks for any advice!

ACT English and SAT Writing are nearly identical, but the reading sections are different.

ACT Reading questions are relatively easy, but D may feel a bit rushed because of the limited time per question.

SAT Critical Reading questions are much harder, so the extra time per question that the SAT provides is only useful if the test-taker has a good enough understanding of the questions to be able to double-check answers effectively.

A tutor who’s really good at one test should also be really good at the other. Ideally, you can find a tutor with 99 percentile scores on both tests; marketplaces like Thumbtack and Wyzant are good places to look for one.

Very similar. ACT produces a tighter time crunch (and adds “difficulty” by placing questions/answers out of sequence with the passage…so boneheaded), but its answers are often verbatim from the passage rather than paraphrased, but they’re far more similar than different.
