I didn’t use a book, but I used an online program with practice questions. It was actually free, so if you’re worried about price, UWorld would probably be a good tool for you to use. However, I have heard a lot of good reviews from my friends about Dr. Chung, and not so much about Gruber’s. So, if you want a book, I recommend Dr. Chung.
Hi everyone, I’m new to SAT prep. I see a lot of on math. With the new SAT, is the vocabulary still similar to before? What is the best vocabulary book?
Do different SAT prep books by the same publisher have the exact same practice tests? For example, there are different SAT prep books and practice test books by Princeton Review, like "Cracking the SAT Premium Edition with 7 Practice Tests, 2018 ". and “9 Practice Tests for the SAT”. I wonder if I’ll get 16 practice test on buying both of them or there is a repetition of tests in the books by the same publisher. There are similar scenarios for Barrons and Kaplan. Please Help! Its sort of urgent.
Yes, as emmapratt said, UWorld is great! even though the questions are sometime harder than the real test, this prepares you even better.
Does anyone know if there are significant differences between the Critical Reading 2nd edition and the current (3rd) one? I have the 2nd edition one, but not sure if I should buy the 3rd…
@Lulu1818 There are still questions with vocab on the new test (vocab in context–ex: the word “absolute” in line 56 most likely means…) but significantly different from the old version where there was an entire section dedicated to fill in the blank with the correct vocab word
So u think someone having 2nd edition should buy it?
I highly recommend Peterson’s ACT practice. College Panda - visit the website for great blog advice columns. He also sell’s books. If you google SAT practice tests you should be able to find 5 prior SAT tests to use for practice to download. The same for ACT. The best practice are actual former tests. My son used these resources and brought his score up 150 points. You also need to practice in timed situations - but I’ll let College Panda tell you about that.
Also, if you google SAT vocabulary I believe you can find a list of vocabulary words to study. I think PrepScholar is a source for this.
Hey guys! For those of you who need help with the CR section, I made a quick website with a list of the vocabs organized in terms of importance for the test. The list is a personal one I used to get a perfect score on the section. I spend a lot of time as a HS student perfecting my CR skills so thought it would be great to give back you guys. If you don’t have much time, you can select level 10 on importance to study the most used vocabulary. Happy studying!
Hello, I am searching for the best option of studying for my daughter. She has around an 1100 on the SAT now and need to raise by 200 points at least for Bright Futures here in Florida. Any suggestions of a good study book or online resource based on her score now? She scored about the same on both sections. Thanks
chung’s is pretty excellent. It provides thorough questions and explanations. I’d say it’s significantly harder than the actual SAT, but that makes the test itself much easier when you take the real thing.

What is a good sat prep book.
My child got a 1430 the first time.750 Math, 680 English.
She has done the Princeton the first time.
What about English
College Panda SAT Math is amazing so far! Its examples are great and the exercises are very difficult, but it makes for good prep.
this isn’t a book but i would recommend diagKNOWstics (website)
What book should i read to improve my critical reading!!
Plz help
I wouldnt recommend the bluebook to anyone especially since the most valuable thing on there is the practice and you can get free online. Also other companies do a better job of explaining what to do on certain questions than college board
Any comments on SAT Prep Black Book? We’re going to use that among other things this time. My daughter took it at the beginning of her Sophomore year and made a 1340 (680 reading + 660 math). That first time, she used a few apps on her phone, but no real hard core studying or prepping. She’s planning on trying again next spring in the March/April period. Suggestions? How much can she realistically expect to improve?
