What is your current score ? I am also international student. I improved my CR by 200 scores reading nytimes and reviewing answers i got wrong.

Hello @whateverhahah‌
Have you purchased the Official Study Guide of SAT reasoning test and done all the exercises in the book? Then considering you are an international student, please make your best effort to purchase other test prep material such as Princeton Review and Kaplan, and complete those books as well. After repetitive exercises you should have a good feel of the passages. Take your time to read difficult English material (classics and high vocabulary magazines like Time and The Economist). It might be tedious at first but it will pay off. MAKE SURE YOU WORK YOUR BUTT OFF FOR THE VOCABULARY!!! THE MORE VOCAB YOU KNOW, THE MORE PREPARED YOU WILL BE!!! There are a number of websites for SAT vocab lists.

Other TIPS:

  1. TIME YOURSELF (MUST to gain practice, it doesn’t matter if you don;t finish your practices but make the continued effort to finish within time limits)
  2. Summarize paragraphs of passages while you read (The trick the SAT will use is to present you with a passage which most students will get distracted by easily. SO DON’T LOOSE FOCUS)
  3. PRACTICE ACTUALLY DOES MAKE PERFECT!!! (No exceptions)

Even though you are an international student, always remember that you can be equally competent to anyone else around the globe. Don’t let anyone less tell you any less than that. Have confidence!!!

Also it would help if you could give a current score and your scheduled test date. If you don;t want to publicly display your score, feel free to message me to my CC account.

@notflippant thanks a lot
How much do you read ny times, like one or two hours a day or more? do you just read them like you normally do with book ?
when you review your answer, do what do you do? I simply just read the explanation.
Pls excuse me if the questions sound stupid :(((
Thanks a ton. I am so glad that iam not ignored

@ Thanks a lot , and I really mean it. I will try , but it is hard for international student to be so competent
I will try my best anyways. who knows?
My current score is 600-650 for the CR., and iam taking the SAT this june
I actually got a copy of the Blue Book and the Princeton review.
But I feel like i always run out of practice materials…
About Voca, i studied in Word Smart 1. What is your advice?
I find it reallyyy hard to work under time pressure.
About reading the hard material, how much should I read, i got like only two months and i am willing to work hard

How I went from a 500 CR to a 730 in 6 months… http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/sat-preparation/750399-how-to-attack-the-sat-critical-reading-section-effectively-p1.html

I read new york times everyday one or two hour. When i review my answers i try to figure out why it s correct and why it is incorrect. As for sc , i used direct hits and sparknotes 1000. As for time issues , i was, like you, not able to finish within time, so i used the strategy(first Q with lines then passage …) above posted. This really helped me. The last thing i sugges you is that you have to come up with answer in your own word before seeing answer choices. Really you should not summarize paragraph if you cant finish within time. Good luck!
