SAT December 2014 Scores Vague Delay

@minio123 I do not think that the delay can have that serious consequence over the application. You could simply e-mail the colleges you are applying to and notify them of this, I believe that CB will be e-mailing universities as well, it is their responsibility.

@TripleKill What goes around comes around huh? :confused: I guess they’ll have to find out the hard way… smh

@minio123 look, you are 100% correct. If they are so darn into “prevention of cheating” then they should do a better job at it. and @Ghada95‌, it will negatively impact their scores simply because, if I’m a University, and I am deciding who to accept, I would rather accept those who ACTUALLY have the scores I’m looking for from now (instead of waiting for 5 weeks for some “possible” candidates).

Sadly this isn’t the first time an exam gets delayed. this happens quite frequently each year… I honestly don’t believe there is a possible way to make the exam more secure… but it doesn’t matter. Like my grandfather the Metallurgy Professor told me when i told him about the SAT leaks. “There is no perfect crystal son… there will always be abnormalities.,”. I think CB should take this approach. Instead of DELAYING EVERYONE’S SCORES… maybe just make it apart of their oditing process to check for those who have a massive score increase and to investigate that as a part of the original 3 weeks of scores checking. It would make everyone’s life easier.

@nexuslover I believe this depends on your application as a whole, if admissions officers think that somebody is interesting and has accomplishments, a good school record, promising previous SAT scores and good SAT Subject Test(s) and TOEFL scores, then perhaps they would put the application aside for some time until the scores are available and decide whether the applicant is qualified. I do not think it should have that much of an impact, unless the application has not got many strong aspects.

@Ghada95‌ la2 ya ghada… howa convenience leehom fil 2a5er… bosy balash nefaty ;D rabena yawafa2hom.

@nexuslover Haha :smiley: well I am in this with them, I am applying as well, things will be fine inshaa’llah, no worries :D

@Ghada95‌ are you applying abroad?

@nexuslover Yeah, I am applying to schools in the U.S.

@ghada95 good luck ya basha… nawareena henak!

@ghada95
Applying to any top schools by chance? If so how’s your application going?

I am finding MIT’s application questions pretty dull if you ask me.

@NexusLover‌ Haha :smiley: , well thanks, good luck with the score inshaa’llah

@faroukYasser Yeah I am applying to two top schools, well I am trying my best haha, I do not know about the personal statement though, I am sick of it! I am not applying to MIT, but I know someone who is, good luck with everything inshaa’llah :slight_smile: Need any help?

la la la… gaw el da7a7een w MIT w el kalam dah mish hena lawsama7t. ana 3ayel 3’aby mish 3awiz 2asma3 el kalam deh

@Ghada95 The funny thing is that I have finished the personal statement. I am more worried about the other “Describe a situation whose result was not expected and explain how you reacted in response” questions. These questions always get me :frowning: . Anyways if you need any help with your personal statement let me know :)

@faroukyasser I suggest that you do not write something typical as “I was disappointed to receive a C on my Math exam in grade eight”, you could mention something like a conflict with a friend or a family member, or something funny in your own voice. I could honestly use your help with my personal statement

@Ghada95
Ok first of The personal place is basically your place to show your university why you rock and that they should totally take you over another candidate. Ofcourse you don’t really say that but thats what you’re really aiming to do here.

First of all, never write: “I am very hardworking and I engage with academia all the time”… well this is very nice and all but you have no proof to back you up here, this is the internet, I could say a million things about me and they can all be lies. so best thing is to just give them examples and let them finally say: “ohh, well that girl is really hardworking and she really engages with academia”. Don’t just tell, (((show))). Give a plethora of examples to support your “claim”.

Also, try to read about the subject you’re really interested about so for example I am interested about computer science, I was interested in a field called Qbits and I read a LOT of articles about it and almost knew most of its topics by heart. So in a sense I gained a PERSONAL opinion about that topic. I would talk on it in my personal statment and say why Its very interesting to me and what my opinion is on current research in it is, etc. That will show you’re geniuenly interested in that field.

Hope I’ve helped and sorry for the typos :stuck_out_tongue:

@FaroukYasser‌ @Ghada95‌ Don’t forget to milk the revolution dry

@faroukyasser Thanks haha :smiley: I understand that I ought to show not tell broadly, but still I do not know if my topic is that interesting, I mean I wrote it about a disappointment I experienced and how it affected me and what I learnt, I tried to attach vivid descriptions and so, but I am not sure it REALLY makes me stand out, at the same time I do not have anything else to write about haha :smiley:

@nexuslover haha well, it seems that you are too free and have nothing to worry about :smiley:

@ghada95 ana 3’altan… I have sister who talked about nothing but the revolution…she’s in harvard.

@nexuslover Well, then I believe you should learn from your sister haha :smiley: Honestly the revolution did not affect me that much so I am not going to try relating to it
