It's a great idea

Junior year is really busy

Study hard now and take the test and finish it....

well...taking it during soph year cant hurt after all...and it does give practice under actual conditions...just dont expect the score to be as high as it would have been if she/he had taken it during junior year....there are a lot of things you learn during junior year that are helpful in taking the test....but like i said...as a practice it cant hurt...(sorry if im incoherent...its 3:17 am right now...damned CC addiction...:)

just to clear everything up...my friend is planning to take the REAL SATs during sophomore year, so anymore opinions would be helpful...thanx in advance

Take it........seriously

Study hard for the score you want and end the process...
haha

So you can take the SAT your sophomore year and your junior year?
Or can you only choose one?

You can take the SAT in the seventh grade if you want.

You can take it all throughout high school if you want.
Personally, I would try not to take it more than 3 times, but some say 4 times.

Hmm, I learned something new today. lol
I took the PSAT this year (I am a freshman in High School), I also took it last year and I am still getting the hang of it. Next year, I have to take it (some state law) so I am getting prepared for most of the tests I have to take.
Thanks for the info ;)

Its a bad idea. In my and in most of my teachers opinions it is best to take the SAT when you know the most. For example, im taking English A.P. this year as a junior my skills in english and writing have increased tremendously. Yes you can take it as a sophmore but CB will send those scores with your other SAT scores. You can take it again yes but a low score may cause discouragment.

I, as a sophomore, am taking it in June. I think it will be good to get it out of the way if I get a high score. I doubt I will learn much that will help me in 11th grade

I took the SAT as a sophomore, and I am extremely glad that I did. I did not get the score that I wanted, but it helped me understand the layout and timing of the SAT for this year.

Doing well on the June SAT at the end of sophomore year really relieved me of a big stressful burden during junior year. I reccomend it.

Can't hurt. And even if you get a low score at least you have an idea about how much you have to improve. It's always better to start early

Take the PSATs sophomore year simply as practice -- to get the lay of the land, and to see how you score. Take the PSATs again in the fall of your junior year (for National Merit status), and then take the "real" SATs in the spring of your junior year. If you're still not happy with your scores, you can take one more whack at the SATs in the fall of your senior year. I suspect that your scores will go up at least a little each time you take the tests, simply because of the "sleeping-on-it" effect. Any prep you do on top of the experience you gain with each taking of the test is gravy.

Looking back as a junior, I definitely should've taken the SATs last year as a sophomore =)

I took em in May as a sophmore - scored a 2070 which is pretty good I believe.
when I re-took em as a junior in october, I only improved my writing score by 70 points and raised my essay score by like 2 or 3..... that was the only difference.

780 M, 670 CR 620 W on first test in may
800 M 650 CR 690 W on second test in october
