SAT Essay: 1 example better than 3?

Just a thought. I got the same essay score the last 2 times I took the test (4) and I wrote both with 2 brief examples.

I'm REALLY bad at coming up with examples on the spot and was wondering if you think writing 1 really detailed example is better?

I don’t think it’s so much a question of how many examples you use, as HOW you use them…I used a couple short one sentence examples, and then really elaborated on my main example. I made sure that all of my examples had PURPOSE and tied back to the prompt/my thesis etc, and I earned a 10. I think the point is to use however many examples it takes to write a coherent, well organized, and supported essay.
