My SAT essays suck. Can someone help me? Last time I took it I got a 9. For March, I actually tried to improve my essay, but I ended up with a 8 which dropped my writing score so much!
How do you prepare for the essay? I know some places, like Excel, give preplanned essay outlines. Do those really help?

To improve upon your essay, you need to preplan your essay (or get the RocketReview). The SAT is too early in the morning for many students to be able to write a strong, cohesive essay. By preparing ahead, it is less taxing on your brain. Use the standardization of the SAT to your advantage. Also, you might just want to search the threads for something, like the one about how to write a 12 essay.

Use Literature you go over in English Class at school for your examples and evidences…I used Antigone and Oedipus Rex lol…but still ended up with a 9,lol I didn’t get to finish >.< I got so used to giving myself 30 minutes for the essay cuz I’ve been prepping for the ACT lol

Before your next sitting try picking 4 of your favorite books and review some of the those details ahead of time. Then do the same with 4 moments in history you are comfortable with, i.e. WWII, Civil Rights Movement, American Revolution, Industrial Revolution, etc.

Then, plan to use 1 of those books and 1 of those historical examples for whatever prompt they throw at you. You can try brainstorming with those examples on some of the college board’s essay examples or the two prompts you’ve already seen.

Good Luck!
