I just looked at the new class profiles released for the UCs today and saw that there was a new category of the SAT Essay. My SAT score is near or above the 75th percentile for the UCs I am applying for (700 reading, 780 math), but my essay is only a 14 which is near or below the 25th percentile for all the schools. I am worried because I was told the Essay category doesn’t really matter because of how biased it can be graded, and as long as your score was in double digits your fine. Is this not true anymore??
