SAT essay question

So I'm taking the SAT in March. For the essay portion of the SAT, what should you focus on? I know the graders only spend 1-2 min. on each essay. So should you be focusing on length? depth? sophisticated language?

all three, i would say

There's a certain formula out there you can follow to the write the essay. After scoring not so great on my first attempt, and then conquering the essay in the Jan 07 test, I've learned that simple, concise sentences will get you farther than convoluted sentences structures and embellished descriptions. (For example, write more like the first sentence of my post than the second). Try to squeeze in 3 examples. Don't slack on the conclusion - at least 2-3 sentences. And don't slack on the intro either - make it a decent paragraph, not just a thesis.

SAT writing is not real writing. You just need to learn the SAT "formula" for good essays, which the book RocketReview does a really good job of explaining. Use literary/historical references to make yourself sound smarter.

what's the full name of the rocketreview book?

Here's the book website:

If you don't want to buy it, you can just check it out from the library or sit in a bookstore (Barnes&Noble! :D) and read the section on writing
