SAT ID Issue ( International)

Hello, I have the SAT this Saturday but I want know if there will be any problem with the following:

  1. My full name is Brandon (**MODERATOR'S NOTE:**: full name redacted), so it appears in my ID.
  2. When I registered on college board, I put my name in this order Brandon (first mame) (middle initial name) (last name): , that's how it appears on my ticket.

3.The problem with this or at least in this country (Colombia) is that the surnames should be in order from left to right, because in these countries you have two surnames , now, since I think this an issue only in countries like these(Colombia) because of the two surnames, my question is, Would that be a problem for the college board or is just for the test center? Should they let me in?
In the United States there is only one surname if I’m not mistaken, then that order error only matters in countries where you have two surnames, Colombia, for example, Is that correct?

  1. Something that I know is mandatory in all countries where the SAT is taken is that the photo of the ID must match the one on the ticket.
  2. I had the TOEFL iBT two months ago with the same error and they let me in without any problem.

Thank you

Next time use:
First:Brandon
Middle Initial:
Last: Both Surnames

Most forms have enough space for you to fit in a double last name. There are so many Latino kids in schools and universities here, that almost everyone you meet will have seen double last names before. It also is pretty common for those students to just use the first of the two last names for everyday purposes.

If it is too late for you to change the entry ticket to include your double last name, you will just have to go to the testing site and see what happens. I hope that things work out just like they did for your TOEFL!

Heads up, colleges may have a hard time putting all the different pieces of your application together if your name appears differently on different documents. E.g. if you use a single last name for the TOEFL registration but a double last name on the main application.

If you think this may turn into an issue, let colleges know to expect materials for you under different names.

You may also run into problems later if the name the college has on file for you is not identical to the name in your passport. I coasted by on two different names until I wanted to start working an on-campus job. Suddenly it was a problem that the job offer letter from the university spelled my name differently than what appeared in my passport/visa. That held up my application for a social security number and I had to postpone employment for 2 months.

By the way, next time do not put your real name here. Its called college CONFIDENTIAL for a reason.

MODERATOR’S NOTE:
To build upon the earlier post, I heavily edited the thread to delete your middle and last names

Now to answer your question: It should not be an issue. I personally legally have two surnames (my mother’s lat name and my father’s last name.) People/institutions figure it out. While @happymomof1 offers an alternative, for me, both surnames exceed the space allotted many times.

But many people have the issue. With double surnames, spaces or apostrophes or hyphens in the surnames, it’s a common issue.

When you get to college, you should ensure that the registrar has your name listed as the way you want it to appear. In the meanwhile, your ID should be enough to prove your identity for any tests.
