is it recommended to take the m-bio and e-bio both? is it even possible to take both? if you should only take one, should you take the one you think you could score a bit higher on (E) or the one your career may be more related to (M)? that's sort of confusing for me.

If you
re taking AP Biology, it would be best to take Molecular (DNA, photosynthesis, light reactions, cells).
If you
re taking AP Environmental Science, it would be best to take Ecology (population, environment, species).

It depends on what you're better at.

I took AP Bio and went with the Ecology. Ecology is more logical reasoning over memorization. Thought it would be easier for me.

In all honesty, the difficulty of the M and E questions vary from test to test. Look at the questions on the test before making your decision.

You can waste time looking over both questions....

Not if you practice enough beforehand. When I took it I finished the core 60 in about 25ish minutes. I think I answered half the E and M questions before deciding to do M.

IMO, taking E or M based on your course is totally ignorant of the fact that their difficulties vary independently for each administration. For the class above me, the honors bio teacher told them to take M because the class is molecular-based. That year the E section was much easier, so the few students who took E did much better than those who took M (no 800s). My year the M section was much easier than E, and the average score was like 50 points higher (including 2 800s).

Practice practice practice!

wait is the sat ii bio designed for after one year of bio or for after like ap bio?

after one year of bio. ap bio helps significantly though.

I took my SAT II Bio in the same May that I took my AP Bio, and I made no extra preparations for my SAT II Bio. Did just fine (800).

My bio teacher claims that M is a lot easier than E. I took M and got a pretty good score; my friend took E and thought it was quite difficult. Just my two cents.

I took E...

trader: I think you should just look at the practice tests for both and then pick one that you think is easier for you...personally I got a headache from looking at all the Molecular stuff so I took Ecology.

My friend took Molecular and she scored lower than me. The average molecular score is about 50 points higher than the Ecology score, I think.

could i take both and send both?

You can only take one at a time. If you take the test twice, you could certainly take both, but there's really no point. If you take M there are still Ecology questions; if you take E there are still Molecular questions. It's just that they emphasize it a little more on the specific test (and even then, its only for 20 questions out of 80 total).

Bio M is easier than Bio E if you've taken AP Bio, but Bio E is easier in general (in that it's less memorization and more common sense). Oh yeah, and Bio E is ridiculously easy if you've taken AP Environmental Science :PP In general though, I guess it varies by test...

Lol I almost want to take Bio E now because now I'm planning on going into ecology/environmental studies instead of genetics/microbiology (and I took Bio M as a freshman).

wat colleges u applying to theoneo?

I'm a junior.

im a freshman in college

My advice: Just take whatever you do better in.
I took E.
