SAT II Biology Preperation

He guys, I'm a rising Senior and I was wondering whether the method I'm going to approach the Bio SAT would be sufficient enough to score around a 770 plus.

Materials:
- My knowledge retained from freshman year of standard Bio
- Princeton Review Book
- Barron's

If I read both, will I get the scores I want? This is really important for my college admissions process.

Just give it a shot. Takes like 2 days. I had the same issue with my Physics, I used the PR and Kaplan book and now I can get around 750 on mock tests

It only took you two days to memorize the entire book?

Anyone else have any input? I wanna study smartly for this thing

Smart studying involves a systematic review over a period of weeks, giving yourself enough time to digest each chapter before moving on. Cramming at the end is exciting, makes for telling good stories, but is not smart.

Since it’s August right now, you really only have about 2-3 months to prepare. IMO you should take at least 2 months to prep for this book. Let’s break it down into 8 weeks instead of two months. 3 of those weeks should be dedicated to reading Princeton Review; read no less than an hour a day. Then, 2 of those weeks should be dedicated to reading Barron’s. You don’t have to read Barron’s excessively like you have to for PR. Barron’s is mainly used for memorizing extraneous details just to overprepare for the SAT Biology; you should only memorize the things in Barron’s that aren’t in Princeton Review. Lastly, you should take PRACTICE TESTS. Here are a list of 17: [Practice SAT II Bio Tests](http://projects.ecfs.org/pchurch/TutoringLinks/Tutoring%20links.htm)

The BEST practice tests are the two Princeton Review tests (in your book) and the collegeboard test (on the website). These have the most accurate questions, so I recommend you take these for sure. Depending on how much time you have, you COULD take more tests, but they won’t be as helpful.

Thank you!

Bump…

Hi! @Kumar9. I took the SAT II Subject Test and I got a 740 with minimal studying. Actually, at the time I was already studying for the AP Exam so it was virtually killing two birds with one stone. Anyways, I am not sure what textbook you have at your school, but at mine we have the 9th edition ([Campbell Biology AP Ninth Edition (Biology, 9th Edition): Reece Reece: 9780131375048: Amazon.com: Books](http://www.amazon.com/Campbell-Biology-Ninth-Edition-9th/dp/0131375040)). And what is neat about this book is that it came with an extra paperback book that outlined all the chapters, which was very helpful and that is what I used.

Btw there’s a biology e/m. Ecology and Molecular, I believe. And I am certain that I chose ecology ahaha

Hope this helps!

Of you read any books such as Princeton Review specifically for the SAT II? Or did you just take it while studying for the AP exam?

Hmm I was thinking of taking bio sat2 in oct too but idk if its a good idea

Hahahaha yeah man I’m nervous. But I think just reading the books should be fine. I just got to genetics on Princeton Review and its not bad

Bump…

So would only reading the books be sufficient enough for me to get above a 760?
