I have the Kaplan review book and took the diagnostic test cold and got a 680. I plan to read over the entire book (I am in AP Chem. but my teacher is very very bad) so that I will understand the concepts I never learned.

How much higher could I get on the real test do you think? I got a 680 on the diagnostic with no reviewing or anything; it was just to see how much I remember from sophomore year.

If any of you have used Kaplan, how did your Kaplan test score compare to your real SAT II score?

well i was in a similar situation as you, i was in AP Chem last year and did not exactly have the best teacher (everyone got 1's and one 2 the previous year, and everyone got 1's in my year except for three kids, including me)....then i took the sat 2 and got a 650....

so i retook it in november after doing practice tests from barron's and reviewing some basic concepts in the book, i dont have my score yet but i think i did better (hopefully!)...people on this board recommend sparknotes for chem usually, i dont know about kaplan though, sorry

bumpppppppppppppppppp

Yeah I"m curious too because I plan on taking this test when I'm done with AP Chem in June but I really want to get a review book so I can use that to study for the tests in class also.

I used Kaplan for USHistory SAT II and it helped alot. But I wonder if it'll be just as helpful for Chem.

Anybody know?

Kaplan practice tests are way too easy.

Chem I got all 800s in practice and 710 in october. Retook and used barrons :D

As long as you know its too easy, its alright to use it as a sudy aid.

i think you'll be fine with 680 with no studying. I got a 570 with no studying on my first practice test (admitedly not a kaplan test) but then i looked through the Kaplan and PR book and got a 720 on the real thing. My scores on the kaplan tests were like 710 on diagnostic (which i took after studying), then 720, 730, 690

yeah actually i made a mistake..
i got a 720 on the diagnostic test w/o studying
i think i should be fine if i just read through the review and take the test
