engineering majors need physics or chem, but i havent taken either...
completely destroys my chances or just a small hinderance?...neone have any insight?
also..if it is a big deal, what if i jus applied to a diff college, then changed my freshman year?

Is there a chance you can self-study for at least one of them for the November testing? I know it is ambitious, but if you could really set yourself to it and get good scores you will have a much better chance of admission if you put down engineering as your intended major. Another option would be to put another major down, because Princeton admits University-wide, not into individual colleges (engineering, Woody Woo, etc.), but it will probably be hard to get into the engineering program once (or if) you get in because you didn't take at least one of the two.

Have you taken the classes (physics or chem)? If so, you should be reasonably prepared and self-studying before the november SAT IIs shouldn't be that tough. If not, it would be difficult to get into engineering altogether.

I don't know about Princeton's policy on transfers, but I doubt that there is much room for them (if any at all)...I think your best chance is to go buy an SAT II review book or two and get studying, especially if you are planning to apply ED.

I was afriad of that..lol...what if i planned on a biomedical engineering route and took bio, which i did...hmmm
neone else?

Thanks JTC...I have taken regular physics and chem...but 2 years ago...yikes..and both of them im taking now as APs so its only been a month or two

Hi, I'm new to this site. I would like to know if you take APs in physics or biology and passed college board exams, will Princeton be willing to waive the requirment for SAT II in these subjects? My daugher is a 10th grader. She will take Physics and chemistry this year and APs in Bio and Chem in Junior year. I wonder whether we should plan to take SAT II next May while she still remembers them. Do you recommend taking SAT IIs after taking APs in these subjects?

Definitely. This is the best time to take them! I remember last year the SAT IIs were the day after the last AP tests (US/Euro Histories). Lol I recommend this but it is kind of hypocritical because I neglected to take US History last year (the only AP class I had).

Princeton may waive the SAT IIs if your daughter is admitted and desires to take up engineering, but it is much safer to have her take the SAT IIs.

Thank you for your reply.
So you are saying AP in Bio or Chem will not help with SAT II in Bio or Chem?

mom218 - From what I've seen just from the scores of the kids at my school, AP Bio and Chem didn't help boost SATII scores in those areas. AP Chem focuses more on processes of calculations. The SATII Chem is more theory-based and needs some grunt studying. The extent of the calculations on the SATII is very low - multiplying a number by 2 or 4 at the most - since no calculators are allowed or needed.
From personal experience, I got a 5 on AP Chem and scored lower on the SATII than kids who only took first year/PreAP chem and kids who got 3s on the AP.

Thank you so much for your input. Good luck to you all.
