Hi! A junior at my school is asking me about SAT II scores since I just went through the admissions process. Strangely enough, I don't know how to answer her question. I'm unaware of their significance and what constitutes a good score. She is taking Math II, Biology molecule, and US History. For top ranked schools (UCLA, USC, WUSTL) what should she go for? I suggested 750+ on all, and a 780 + on Math II? Thoughts? Thank you!

For the top schools that require the SAT Subject Tests, usually anything above 700 works fine. For the very top schools, then I agree 750 is about right. Beyond that it is all the same.

One admin officer at a top-5 school says that they view 760 - 800 as the same on Subject tests, and they view 2300 - 2400 as the same on the SAT.

But, really the rankings are somewhat subjective, but the higher the rank, usually the higher the test scores (schools like Caltech and Mudd excepted; they are just high scores period).

@awcntdb Thank you for your answer I’ll let her know!

You are welcome.
