Does anyone know if the curve on the subject test is based off of the points missed, or is it based off of the amount of questions you can miss....Sorry, I know this question has probably been asked multiple times.

Total points (Number right - ((1/(x-1))*number wrong)) are converted to a scaled score out of 800. x is the number of answer choices for each problem. For language tests where there are a different number of answer choices in different sections, the total points for each section are calculated (with the above formula), added together, and then converted.

Sorry, it’s just that I had seen a curve that said you could get a 70/80 and still make an 800. Is that the amount of questions(10) you can miss?

No that’s the amount you can leave blank.

^ Oh. Does anyone know how many you can miss, and still make an 800…for all of the subject tests?

^In the absence of anything like the QAS for subject tests, the best guide to the subject test curves is the official CB subject test guide that has real tests for all the subjects. The curves vary a lot from one test to another.

Vary alot? They don’t usually vary a lot at all, by 1 or 2 questions if the curve is big to begin with.
You can miss 8.

I think fignewton means that tests for different subjects vary a lot. For example, the curve for Math I is very different than the curve for Physics or Math II.

Yes, thanks @pi that’s what i meant. Within a particular subject, the curves probably don’t vary enough to worry about it…
