I got 700 on US history SAT, which i thought was great.

Then i find out there's a percentile ranking that they give you and i did better than 76% of people who took the test.

All of a sudden things dont seem as great anymore....

Can someone explain to me how important your percentile is in your score or how I should feel about this score?

anyonee have an answer??

700 is a solid score. Which schools are you applying to? That would help put things in perspective.

Yeah, knowing what schools you are applying to will help a lot. The higher above 700, the better.

i was going to apply to yale

Regardless of whether you retake, you’re going to need another subject test. If you have a free summer, you might as well study for a retake. 700 is on the low side for tier 1 schools.

I got the same score and was initially pleased, but I think it needs to be higher too (I’m looking at applying to some tier 1 schools as well). What did you use to study for it?
