Hey guys,

So like the moron that I am, I've waited until the last minute to take a second subject test (applying to college in the fall). I've already taken Lit, so I figured I needed to take a math/science test too. My options at this point are Math 2, Biology, and Physics.
I took Biology freshman year, and to be perfectly honest, I would be re-learning nearly everything. Biology was my favorite science though, and I found it very easy. Is it feasible to re-learn everything?
I covered the material in Math 2 this year, but I tend to be a little slow on math tests in general.
In general, I was relatively weak in Physics but I've heard that the subject test is almost entirely conceptual (which is my strength; I'm eh at math, and better with concepts). Also, physics was my worst class ever, and this would give me an opportunity to redeem myself, I guess.

So, should I:
a) Re-teach myself my favorite science, which I used to be very good at, but basically have no memory of anymore.
b) Work on my Math 2 speed
c) Redeem my low physics class grade with a (hopefully) good physics sat II [is this something colleges will even notice?]

I basically have the summer to study for any of these options.

Well, if you found it enjoyable and easy before, there’s no reason you can’t find it like that again.

@mrnephew do you think the possible physics redemption is not worth it? (ie is it possible that colleges will be like, “damn, she sucked in her physics class, but she kicked butt on the SAT2, so she must be okay”?)

I’m not sure about that aspect. Can you pick more than one?

I’d suggest take some practice tests and see where your scores would line up.

@mrnephew eh, I suppose I could. To be honest though, I really just don’t want to study for multiple tests haha. I have a pretty time consuming internship this summer.
@skieurope right now, my biology score would most definitely be my lowest (since I have basically 0 memory of it). physics would be in the middle somewhere and math 2 would probably be marginally higher than that. No matter which test I choose, I’ll have to study a considerable amount :/

I got my math II score up with some pretty hardcore studying for a month after schools.

Don’t be discouraged by how much you have to study. I’ve taken all three of those subject tests and have to study to retake them. Physics was the most difficult for me. Prep books are a GREAT tool, though.
Personally, I would take math 2 and bio (bc that’s what I plan on taking and find to be easier). However, look through the tests and find which subjects you would feel more comfortable with. Then start studying! You still have time :)

@mrnephew ah, but you are a much more driven individual than I, my friend
@asianchica15 what did you find hardest about physics? did it cover a lot of material? or was the scope narrow and just in depth?

Well, honestly physics isn’t my best subject. So I forgot a lot of it and I didn’t focus on it as much as math and bio. It was more in-depth than I expected, though. I thought so, at least. My basic knowledge of the formulas didn’t help me much. The prep book I had covered a broader range of materials, like thermodynamics, that my teacher didn’t cover in AP Physics C. Sorry I’m not much help on the physics I can tell you more about the bio and math 2 haha

If you do math though, John Chung is my recommendation. Or Barron’s.

Bio is generally considered the toughest test (of course, every person is different). If you took Bio in freshman year, there is no way you will remember that much material. Math II seems like a good bet… as always, Barron’s is a great study guide.

math 2 and barrons!!

@exeover bio’s considered the hardest?! I thought it was one of the easier ones! Do you mean it’s tough in terms of content or in terms of the harsh scoring curve?

Study for AMC’s you still have a few years. If you get the fundimetals(introductories down), then you should easily be able of get a 800 with half the time to spare.

^Not true. I studied for the AMC, got a relatively good score, and it didn’t help me at all with Math II.

And Bio E and M, is, at least by students in my school, considered to be relatively easy.
