I'm thinking of taking the following SAT IIs: Math IIC, Physics, Chemistry, and maybe Literature.

Does anyone know any good prep. books?

Is IB2 Physics good enough preparation for SAT II Physics?

My teacher and a senior recommended taking the SAT II Chemistry in fall '06. Does anyone else in (or that has taken) IB1 Chemistry know whether learning the extra material would take a lot of work or not?

How similar is Literature to Critical Reading? Is Literature easy or hard to study for? (FYI, 730 in CR, if that helps at all)

Does anyone know whether people usually take these tests once or twice?

Thanks!

for Math (level 2 AND level 1) the best book in my opinion is the Princeton Review SAT Math 1 and 2 subject tests (it's got a red and white cover).. i went from a 720 on practice tests to an 800 on the actual level2 subject test. :)

for the chemistry/physics.. I took chem subject test 2 months ago and got a 700. My problem is, I studied AP chemistry concepts. as it turns out, the subject test for chemistry is about 75% general chem topics. pressure, temperature, characteristics of compounds/metals, etc.. only a few questions on like enthalpy, vapor pressure, or heavy duty calculations. I should've studied general chem more. that being said, I know nothing about IB courses. I'm going to assume.. that IB1 is like pre-IB2.. or like "general chemistry".. in which case, you wouldn't need too much extra time/resources to learn the more advanced concepts, because it just builds off of waht you already know (whereas I had to remember back to LAST year for general chem topics).

Literature SATII.. i know you're in IB, but I'm in AP literature, and a while back i created a thread about comparing difficulty level of AP Lit exam, SATII lit, and SAT CR.
AP LIT (or IB lit) is harder tahn SATII LIt, which is harder tahn CR.
so basically, the SAT CR is a little easier because EVERYONE takes it, whereas the subject test is more difficult (but broad in terms of ranges of difficulty, because there are easy Q's and hard Q's) because it is specific and specialized. Hope I helped!
oh, btw, you can take it as many times as you want, and [most] colleges only look at your highest scores for admission (even if they receive every score you have received)

thx for all the info!

for the last part though, i meant how many times do people in general usually take those SAT IIs? Are they often retaken?

for example, i think about 50% of kids take the SAT at least twice

so for those SAT IIs....?

bump....(again)....
