Hey guys...I will be taking AP chem/phys and SAT II chem/phys... I plan on buying books for the SAT II... my question is that if I study for SAT II will I also be prepared for the AP exam? Are they similar?
Thanks a lot!

my friend used her sat II book to study for ap chem, and she said that the ap covered more and deeper material than the sat.

I on the other hand, studied for ap chem and ap physics using ap prep books and felt that i was overprepared for the sat II as a result.

she took her test in may; i took mine in june

i c.. thanks a lot.. how did u do on the SAT II's, like what score?

I haven't taken any chemistry tests, but for the SAT II Physics my advice is to make sure you know electromagnetism, thermal physics, etc. Lots of people tend to be caught off guard by how many questions do not deal with mechanics. Whether you use SAT II or AP materials to study probably doesn't matter a lot, just don't forget the non-mechanics stuff! I got an 800, by the way.

alright. thanks.

I second nilkn, definitely make sure to know the non-mechanical stuff.

I ditto stanfordream. The AP tests generally cover material in more depth than the SAT IIs do. From my experience, SATs and APs cover about the same amount of material, but the AP covers that material in much more depth. Oh, and though you didn't ask, from my experience, IB tests cover material in about the same depth as the SATs (less deep than APs), but cover far more material than both SATs and APs.

Actually, the SAT II Physics covers a lot more content than the AP Physics C. It covers about the same amount of content as the AP Physics B.
