As a transfer applicant to schools that only require SAT I, does taking the subject tests increase your chances of getting in? I'm just curious, cuz i've seen lots of people transfer to top schools w/ solid subject test scores, but also i don't want to waste time if they're not a good addition to the app. Any ideas?

I have, so far anyway, assumed that they're not necessary. Meaning if you haven't taken them, don't.

Anyone disagree?

I think it'd be better to focus on your ACT or SAT scores (if they're not in good shape already).

I've always thought that they were more/less useful for different types of applicants.

I think if you apply as a future success story because your high school record was poor -- they're a bit less important than if you were applying as an excellent student who's just trying to move from CC tier 2 to CC tier 1.
