SAT improve score close to 2400

Hello,
I have all of august to prepare, how can I improve my score of 2150 to 2250-2400 (study plan). I've already taken most of the practice tests in the blue book.

PSAT (last october): 203: 60CR, 74M, 69W
SAT (this june): 2150: 670CR, 750M, 730W (10 Essay)

I don’t think you need to worry much about improving that… Good job!

to answer your question: of course you can.

I want to know approximately how many hours I should study a day to improve to a 2400 and whether reading barrons SAT is a good idea. I really want to go to one of the top 10 schools, but 2150 won’t cut it.

2150 won’t cut it? you’re joking? 2150 is fine, although of course anything higher is better.

You’re being too regimental; that’s the problem with many people studying for the SAT. They say, “OK I’m going to study for 3 hours everyday”, then when one day they go for like half an hour, the next day they feel like they already broke their routine and feel too lazy to study more. Be flexible. I advise against classes, but do them if you need the motivation.

Barron’s is a no-no. blue book is all you need. try subject-specific workbooks or kaplan 2400 if you REALLY need the practice, but I discourage it

Most of the times Barron is too much, as in it tends to be harder than what actually appears on the tests. In other words, if you can get full marks on all the barron tests with no problems at all, you can be more confident with your perfect or near-perfect SAT score. I would worry about grammar if I were you… or is it just the way you speak online? lol

@ Kyrix: I have already used the blue book, I need something beyond that. Most of my friends who have gone to top 10 schools have gotten 2350+ :-(. I agree with you about the group classes, I tried them but the instructor taught me what I already knew and it didn’t help my score at all.

@ cyanide: hopefully, its just the way I speak online, on writing I missed only 3 and got an 11/12 on essay, but the curve for the june SAT was harsh I guess. I think I need help with critical reading because most schools expect at least above 700 on all sections…

I definitely recommend the blue book. By the time you’ve reviewed a few writing sections, you should be able to zip through the sentence corrections without a problem.
