Does anyone here own the Barrons 2400 book? If so, can you testify how good it is?

I took the SAT in January and I got 700 - Critical Reading, 760 - Math, 760 - Writing, total score 2220.

I want at least 2300+ by March (retaking).

Will the Barrons 2400 help me get my CR score up from 700 to at least 740 or so? Math I know I can get an 800, I just made stupid mistakes. And I need to get my writing score higher too.

I believe u must pray right now! (lol!) Surely at this point, I'd say what difference is there btw 2200 and 2300---this is tough to increase from here. If u r lucky enough, u can make an 800 each of them on a good day. I guess, Barron's still is a good try. But still, as I've told I really don't know how one can prep to score more 100 pts at this point.

I don't want that excuse, sorry. I'd rather not leave things up to luck as much as possible.

I read a review on Amazon.com for Barrons 2400, which had a girl who got a 2350 using the Barrons 2400 and the 2350 was 370 points higher than the first time she took her SAT.

I don't know if this is an option for you, but you could consider specialized, hourly tutoring for CR. I know it's a different test, but to give an example, I used a maths tutor to go over my sophomore SAT with me three days before the test. We sat and re-worked virtually every maths problem on the test. I had already taken an SAT prep course in a group, but wasn't sure how much it was going to help. After reworking that test with her once, my score went up 31 percentiles.

Uhh... I just got done reading Barron's 2400 chapters on Critical Reading yesterday, and though I haven't taken another practice test yet, I at least feel more prepared... and I think I have a better strategy.

Also, I think Barron's 2400 is the best book for people who want to get over 700 in a section. Its Critical Reading questions and passages are very hard, but that's because it assumes you can get all the easy ones right easily (which I assume is your case). So if you're going to get a strategy book, I'd say Barron's is the only plausible one, when you already have a 700.

I read the writing sections today and they were okay... not quite as good as the CR. The tips Barron's gives for the Essay are definitely good, but the rest of it wasn't all that helpful to me. Also, the questions for the "identifying sentence errors" section seemed a little off (though I've only taken a College Board practice test, not the real thing, so I could be wrong). It seemed to focus a lot on the correct diction, which I don't believe the real SAT has much on (if any). It has a grammar review as well, which is nice.

I feel a bit more prepared for the Multiple Choice writing and much more prepared for the essay.

So, overall CR = excellent, Essay = excellent, and Writing MC = okay/bad. Math I don't care about and, apparently, neither do you.

"I don't want that excuse, sorry. I'd rather not leave things up to luck as much as possible."---okay, fine that was just my opinion. It's great that u've enough motivation to go ahead and get a lot 'better' score. I'd be eager to know what u make in March Test (no offense, just eager to see how much can Barron's help u NOT to make stupid mistakes in Math)

Try taking a look at the AP Language/Lit passages and questions. By having to decipher those in English class, I've been able to dramatically increase my CR score mainly because SAT passages are a lot easier than the AP ones. Plus the AP passages expose me to different types of literature and style as well.
