SAT International December

I think I put something like “it smelled like arsenine” or something
Not sure I already forgot

@LGRW40‌ Yup, that one was experimental. I had 3 CR sections, and I didn’t see that one.

Guys i have a question in the math section!!

You know the question with 3 overlapping circles and we had to say which areas represented the leap year or somethin, what answer did you guys give for tht?

Oh yeah, that sounds about right. The author didn’t like how Turin claimed that something smelled like something else as fact.

I answered A

Guys…there was a Maths question, in which we had three numbers, and the question asked us that how many number can be made? Was the answer 6 or 27?

Also, that books question. In which the weight was supposed to be 3.8, but the guy bought the wrong book. What was the answer to that?

3! = 6.

The answer had to be books with a weight diff of 0.4kg. There were two possibilities but both books in one pair were in his selection so it had to be the other pair. According o some comments it was science & lit but I’m not 100% sure.

^Exactly! For some reason the option has slipped from my mind. It was pretty straight forward, so I didn’t really think on it much. If I had, it would’ve stayed in my mind! Do you remember what you marked? Option D or E or what?

Science and literature was the last option, but I don’t think I marked the last one. Urrggg…wish I had memory like Mike Ross. Thing would’ve been so much easier.

Man, the math was freaking harder than usual

When do we start discussing the December SAT? I’ve been looking for a thread the entire day, but couldn’t find anything? :/

let’s discuss any questions from the December sat test . what was the answer for the last one in the math grid-in section asking you for the fraction of a distance ?. also what is the answer for the one asking for the leap years ?

Welll, hey guys! I wanted to ask a couple of questions.
1)last question in the grid ins. Many people thought its 7/19 but thats not the REMAINING distance? Is it? (I think my answer was like 0.9 something lol)
2)The essay (you know), was it asking to compare how famous people can be BAD role models or whether unknown people can make good ones? I was confused. (I should’ve made comparisons, right?)
How did you guys think it was? I thought it was pretty easy compared to the October one.

1) I remember it was 12/19 and there was no space to put it in :frowning:
2) I did both, I made an example of how normal people are good role models and another one about how famous people are sometimes bad role models

1). The question asked how long C had remaining when A began to walk. A’s walk took 7 minutes and since A and C arrived at the same time, C also had to walk for 7 minutes. C’s total time was 19 minutes. Therefore, fraction of time left was 7/19.

It couldn’t have been 0.9 because the question specifically asked for a FRACTION (the word fraction was even underlined). And I got 12/19 as well but then I realized that was the amount of time C had walked before A began.

2). The quoted passage said everyone needs a role model and that non-famous people can fulfill that role. The essay topic proposed that non-famous people make better role models. You were free to agree or disagree with that statement (as is always the case with SAT essays).

The general consensus is that you should pick a side and stick with it. If you go through the countless “grade my essay” threads on CC, that’s probably the piece of advice you’ll come across the most.

EDIT: Also, thank you to the mod who merged all the Dec International SAT threads.

You’re welcome.

What were the three critical reading sections?

@TrElite‌ One about a delusional scientist who made wild claims about how the sense of smell works accompanied by a second passage calling him out on his nonsense.

One about some guy whose mother thought a magic stone could turn soup into water.

One about how plastic made people think flame decals on cars looked good.

One about a prince called Bijah

There was two passages about acupuncture.

other than that should be experimental.

“Although payphones are becoming obsolete, they had revolutionized the phone industry when they first came into existence.” is it correct or it should be without “Had”

(We) committee members were in dismay because we had (so many) players yet (so few) prizes (to award). Do you think the ‘We’ in the beginning is wrong ? It seems like one of those questions who want you to choose ‘We’ to replace for ‘us’ but I think we is correct…
