I really don't know how you guys on CC complain about 2350 or 60s. I am even trying to get a 2100. It is rather hopeless which book haven't I tried except for BB but I have the old edition, and its as useless as the ay in okay. And I've invested too much on SAT to start reading ACT. My Math is very fine, without silly mistakes I believe I can nail an 800. But the problem is the Writing and CR, on my last SATs they were on the low 600s. I've done some practicing now and have only increased by about 30 points in both. I am beginning to lose hope maybe I should just go to some Community College.

For writing, it may help to find and read SAT essays that scored high and compare them to yours in not content but how the writing is carried out. For example, consider how a high scoring SAT essay flows. Do the sentences flow smoothyl to the next and how? How does this essay emphasize a point and slam it home? Also, try to find a rubric for the SAT essay section as well. I got a 770 on the writing section, if you want, I could probably help tell you how to improve the essay. I suppose my taking of AP English Language helped as I wasn’t a good writer at all before the class. So, if you want me to help, PM me.

For the reading section, which I was not good at before studying, I tried to go about it thinking and analyzing the reading in different ways and styles until I found a way that worked great for me. In my opinion, to do well on the reading section, its not simply about knowing how to answer the questions but also about how to approach and look at the questions along with the reading passage in a certain way. It’s a bit hard to explain though. I’m still trying to improve my methods by teh next time I take teh SAT.

Thanks a bunch @j814wong
Seriously guys 120 views and just one reply
Bump please anyone???

For vocab, I use a SRS (Spaced Repetition System) program called Anki to review vocabulary.

[Anki - friendly, intelligent flashcards](http://ankisrs.net/)

There is a premade Barrons 3500 vocabulary deck that you can downloaded (It’s under shared deck when you download).

Basically, you are given a vocabulary word. Then once you think of an answer and press show answer. After this, you can select how well you know the answer if at all. The better you know it, the latter in time it will reappear for review. If, say, you know it but it was hard, it will come up again a day or 2 latter.

There’s even an Android (app called ankidroid) and iOS app.

It’s really helpful to learn vocabulary with instead of wasting time by going over the ones you know well enough.

If you struggling this much just study a little more and if that is not helping then get a prep classes if it not a hassle.

First off, there’s never any shame in going to community college, so don’t belittle it.

People complain about 2350s? That’s new to me.

With a 2100 (or anything even close to it) you can do a lot better than community college, so don’t get yourself all in fits. You’ll get into a good school that suits you well and you can succeed in. Besides, it matters more where you go to grad school (if you go).

@Lelyke:

Honestly, I’ve been feeling the same way, except about the math section. Writing and CR come naturally to me, even though English is not my native language. I feel that my math section low 600s is hopeless and like you, have considered going to a community college or even state school (sigh). Though it is quite dramatic of me, I’ve thought of my plan B (if my math score won’t get me into the colleges on my list) as becoming a flight attendant or a novelist. But, I’m pretty sure that won’t happen because I want to see myself go further.

Good luck on the CR/Writing.

By the way, there’s this formula that my Honors Eng. teacher taught me to use on our essays. The first time around on the writing I got a 10/12 on the essay.

Thanks all of you guys helped!!! I’ll just study harder and try to look for people to motivate me and @entenduintransit I never implied there was shame in going to community college, I was just considering it.
