I’m taking the Math 2 and Physics test this June and I’ve had trouble deciding which prep books to buy largely because of everyone recommending different things. So I was wondering which books to buy if I were aiming for a very high score? How much in advance should I study. FYI I’m taking AP Physics and Pre Calc next year.
For Math I’ve heard John Chung or Barron’s is the way to go. Which one should I buy or should I buy both? If I buy both how should I allocate my time for both books?
For Physics, ive heard mostly that Barron’s is the best to supplement PR. However, I’ve also heard that Dr. Jang has a very good book. So which one(s) should I buy? Has anyone ever used Dr. Jane’s book? (It comes with like 10 practice tests)
Thanks in advance!
Get the official SAT guide (collegeboard) for sure. It has actual tests that you can use for practice. Other practice books may not match the real test very closely.
That being said, the collegeboard books dont have much else for background prep so you will want to add another book that explains the math/physics concepts.
For Math II, definitely go Barron’s. Covers all the official SAT topics, and in greater depth. Barron’s promotes a deeper understanding of the material, which reflects in your score. (And as mitch pointed out, you might want a good content review-- Barron’s has that and several high quality, albeit more difficult, practice tests.)
IDK about physics, but Barron’s overall is very reputable. I used it for Chem also and saw good results.
Ok and would you recommend I use Barrons throughout the school year or should I start it like 2-3 months before the test?
