Hi, I am a Junior in highschool currently in Pre-Calc with an A/A+ average. I took the SAT in January and got a 790 in Math. I took a SAT II math level 1 practice test and found it very similar to the normal SAT I math and did really well. However, I have had a really poor pre-calc teacher this year and do not feel like I have learned anything really. Do very competitive colleges really consider Math II much more highly than Math I? I feel like I would do a lot better on Math 1 right now, and that to do well on Math II I would have to do some review. BTW I am not planning to major in Mathematics (Biology likely)… I am planning to apply to very competitive colleges like UPenn, University of Virginia, Rutgers, etc… Will a high score in Math I look better than an average score in Math II? Thank you.
Here is a list of the schools that either require or recommend SAT subject tests. It includes those schools that require or recommend Math 2. It’s a pretty small group of schools. I think a high score on a subject test is always better better. http://www.■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■/subject-test-requirements-and-recommendations/

Penn says:
Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) Applicants: We recommend the Math Level 2 SAT subject test and a science SAT subject test (preferably Physics for Engineering applicants).
