What is the difference between the SAT Math Level II and PSAT Math? Are either harder?
SAT Math Level II tests anything up to and including pre-calculus, and it (or Math Level I) is a requirement for many top math and engineering schools. It is more advanced than SAT math.
The PSAT (“preliminary SAT”) is often taken in sophomore or junior year, typically before the SAT, and is used to determine Natl. Merit Scholarship eligibility.
You should be able to figure which is harder.
PSAT goes up to geometry, I believe, and mostly tests your thinking and reasoning skills through word problems, more than your actual math skills. Math II SAT goes up to the end of precalculus and includes topics like polar, parametric, conics, vectors, etc.
