SAT Math Preparation??

Hi,
I am preparing for the old SAT. I am working on critical reading by reading articles and books. I am using Erica meltzers book for grammar. But for math, I got the barrons math workbook http://www.amazon.com/Barrons-SAT-Math-Workbook-Edition/dp/1438000286
I was wary of getting it since many posts here talk about how barrons is bad for the SAT. Is this reliable? I’m in the low-mid 600’s (highest so far is 680, most questions I miss are geometry) is this a reliable book to use? Hoping to get above 750 for math.

Bump

Dr.chung sat math, my chinese friend told me at his sat prep course most of the kids get around 750+ on the math and they all use dr.chung, it’s designed for people who get 600-700 to get an 800. I only recently got the book and I’m in the same boat as you so I don’t have any personal anecdotal evidence but from my friend and based on other CC posts it’s probably the best book for your score range.

So should I first like use the Barron’s book to increase my score a little bit and then buy dr chungs? Since I already have the Barron’s book… Hopefully I’ll increase my score somewhat?

@netgains

Use the Barrons book to pinpoint the topics that are giving you difficulty (“Geometry” is a broad topic!!!) At the end of each test, look at the grid that classifies each problem type. Highlight the ones you’re getting wrong and circle the ones you’re skipping. Narrow down that “geometry” focus. Is it circles? Similar polygons? Quadrilaterals? That grid can really help you determine where you’re losing points.

@bjkmom alright, it’s primarily coordinate geometry! I will probably do this, thank you (: hopefully I’ll be able to break 750 on the October test for math!

if your only struggling with the level 4 and 5 questions get chungs. If you have barrons use it to improve to the 650+ range the get chungs afterword to get in 750+ range. I don’t know how good barrons is but the more practice the better

OK, so know slope, distance, midpoint, the equation of a line and the equation of a circle. Do every problem you can find on each of them.
