OK, so the SAT Math is just wayyy too easy. It has always been this way.

How much time do you usually have left when you get an 800 on the SAT Math per 30 minute section?

OK, so the SAT Math is just wayyy too easy. It has always been this way.

How much time do you usually have left when you get an 800 on the SAT Math per 30 minute section?

None. Well... i got a 720, but lets just say I was under the impression that 5 + 2 = 9 for sufficiently large values of 2.

Anyway, the SAT is not a measure of brains, but endurance. The main reason people get better taking practice tests is because they are building their mental stamina. Hence they make less stupid mistakes.

enough to get a decent catnap in, as i recall. so say at least 5-7 minutes. then again, that was a long time ago, i may be blending that with other standardized exams.

5-7 minutes. not bad. =)

i had somewhere around 10 minutes left. with that time, i just checked through my answers. it's easier to make mistakes on the easier questions, i think....

^ yea it is. prolly cus there are more careless mistakes on the easy ones...

interesting indeed...

I usually have about 20 minutes left... but then I go back and check my work about 4-5 times. I can't believe that people actually nap - isn't there just a bit too much at stake for that?

yeah im around there too... 15-20 minutes left each section, and I look over once or twice for careless mistakes...

SAT math is getting way too much about understanding verbal math, instead of focusing on problem solving... oh wells.

at my school, you had to take the sat more than once unless you could convince the guidance counselors your score was high enough and you and your parents were happy with it, so it was never really that high-stakes for me. i mean, they're just numbers; the second time i took it was basically, oh hmm, can i get that extra 20 points on the math section, just to have a shiny 1600? i did it on most standardized exams, b/c they usually gave me more time than needed. except maybe the ap exams. and i was usually sleep depped enough that a little more sleep never really hurt. after you've done the problems and checked your answers and made sure your pencil's not too dull, what else is there to do?

the ability to catnap while waiting for trials to run or around lectures is pretty valuable, imho.

maybe 20 mins... but then again i got one wrong and pulled the 790

"Hence they make less stupid mistakes."

^Those killed me. I can't add or subtract or divide or multiply...

laughs
thursday night/friday morning's mad 8.04 party this week featured the best idea we've come up with for a dept. shirt yet: Just Say No to Math (a la DARE) i swear, it made sense in context. and by context, i mean at 3am.

about 5 mins left and got a 800

you guys realize that you get 20-25 minutes on the math sections right. so if you have 20 minutes left over it means you didn't do it.

that's okay. you can challenge west side for the geek gold prize next season
each of you gets a geek ribbon for lying

really? cuz there's only 1 20 min section... maybe 2 if it's experimental, and i said 20 as about* :p... so there, and yes i only take about 5 mins on each math sections... hence the stupid 790 i have 1 wrong!

I was talking about the old 30 minute sections. I haven't taken the new SAT math.

Sorry, don't mean to offend anyone. Just complaining that ceilings are not set high to be able to differentiate at the top 1% very well.

the top 1% does not need to take standardized tests

i bet youre the kind of kid that pretends to fall asleep in class and thinks other people think youre cool

youre a loser dude get a life
"5-7 minutes. not bad"
what a joke

oh, i thought it was obvious you were asking about the old exam, or at least the responses were; current college students certainly haven't taken the new exam, and even this year's prefrosh probably have taken both, yes?

you get a gold ribbon for jumping to conclusions.

fae. its not a popular subject, I know. Don't feel bad about it... 1 smart person can feed tens of thousands, thats how it helps society...

This year's prefrosh had to have their scores in by year's end when the new SAT didn't yet exist, so it's highly unlikely any '09 admits took anything but the old SAT.
