Tried hard to figure how to get to the answer, but couldn't. The answer explanation isn't clear at all. Here's the question:

The answer choices:
a) 4
b) 4 root 3
c) 8
d) 8 root 3
e) 16

The correct answer is b, so can anyone can show me the steps to solving this problems?

look. angle bca is 180 -60= 120. so in triangle bac, you have an angle of 30, 120. so the third will automatically be equal two 30 since the three angles of a triangle make upto 180.
now that two angles are 30, the triangle is isosceles, and therefore side BC is also equal to 4. now using angle bcd and side bc, you can calculate the side BD.(sin60= BD/BC)
BD then equals to 2root3. Now for the area, you have the base 4 and the perpendicular height 2root3. the answer therefore becomes 4 root 3.

Thank you very much =D
