Which is harder? If someone is bad at math, which test should he or she take in order to get the highest possible score?

the SAT math is trickier and it definitely requires the ability to comprehend the question immediately and solve for what it is asking. the ACT math is harder in the sense that it encompasses more trig. I breezed through the first 45 questions of the ACT math section, but the last 15 or so were difficult for me. I'm an AP Calc BC student. if you're bad at math, it's pick your poison.

I definitely think the ACT math is easier - I get scores in the mid to high 500s on the SAT math, but I got a 28 on the ACT math section.

SAT math questions are so tricky that the only thing you can do to prepare for the test is to learn "tricks" and techniques on how to tackle the problems.

The ACT math section, on the other hand, is very straightforward and you can improve easily by doing some studying out of a prep book. The types of math questions on the ACT don't change from test date to test date, so a good test prep book would teach you how to do each type of problem well.

SAT math: very tricky and easy to make mistakes. the curves are harsh

ACT math: more trig. i would say you can do about all the questions with the right IIC program. Maybe two or three will stump you. but the curve is not as bad.

ACT's math is easier (in the sense that there are less tricks). to be honest, i think they're both pretty easy.

ACT math is more advanced, which is why i think its easier for upper level math students.

Meh.... I make dumb mistakes on both tests =P Although I agree that ACT math is less tricky, so I made less there. SAT: 740~800 (After taking 3 times), ACT: 35 (Took it once). I think it's easier to study for the ACT math, since it's more based on concepts rather than tricks...

Hah I scored a ACt math 35 and a SAT 690 and a 700 both after taking the ACT twice and getting 2 35's.

I took the ACT twice b4 I took the SAT once.

i like SAT math. ACT is something you need studying, but SAT you can just go in and do fine. i got 770 in SAT, gave my ACT this morning, we'll see how i do although i didnt even get around to finishing all of it. i had to guess on last 10.

i didnt study for either.

sat is easier..only if i could use 89 on act, it would make things easier.
