The online score reports for the March 10 SAT were released today, and, to my dismay, I discovered that I omitted a medium-level question in the CR section. I don't recall skipping any questions during the test, and distinctly remember that I even went back through my sections each time to ensure that I had completed them.

I received a 780 on my CR section (missed 2, "omitted" 1), and believe that I would have gotten an 800 if I had just missed 2 without omitting any (can anyone confirm the curve?). Is there anything I can do? (I could always have my test hand-scored, but I wanted to see if there were any other options before I shell out the $55 fee).

I know it may seem a bit excessive to complain about a single omitted question, but when that question is worth 20 points, I'm willing to take the time to investigate.

Thanks!

Do you answer some of the main idea questions at the end of your passage? … I do that sometimes and caught myself in the middle of almost omitting a question.

You probably did omit something on accident. Trust me, the scantron machines are super sensitive and College Board does NOT provide refunds for light marks on the scantron. In that case, you might have got the 20 points , but you will not be refunded for the 55 bucks.

780 CR is basically the same as 800 CR. The 20 points may seem like a big deal… but trust me the two should and are treated as equals(the 780 and the 800).

I worked all of my CR questions in order.

But you’re right, the fault most likely lies with me. Every source has said that the CB very rarely makes mistakes when scoring.

Oh well… thanks for the speedy response though, I really appreciate it!

If it’s only 1 question then it’s extremely unlikely that it was a machine error. Congrats on the score though!

I dont’ really think there’s anything you can do about this. 780’s a great score though, so congrats!
