I'm planning to take both the SAT and ACT, but I don't know which one I should take first. I've never taken either one, so I'm very nervous about this. I don't want to take them in the same month because it might be testing overload. Which one do you recommend that I take first? Thanks in advance.

I took the SAT first because I'd had experience with the PSAT in sophomore year, and needed to study for my junior year PSAT anyways.

Then again, if this will be your first standardized testing experience period, I might suggest the ACT, because if you do badly due to nerves, the score doesn't have to go to colleges.

i agree w/ the above poster...take the act first...that way if you do crappy...the colleges will never even know it was there...

Thanks! l'll register for the April ACT, then.

I did take the PSAT and did well on it, but I've looked at some prep books for the SAT and it seems that there is much more material to prep for on it.

That's because the ACT is more straightforward, with less tricks built into it than the SAT. The book publishers haven't had to do so much to write tips on how to beat the ACT because it's knowing the fundamentals and being good on timing.
