which should I take first?

Hi everyone!

I'm going to be a junior next year and rather than waiting till the end of next year to deal with the SAT, I decided to take a prep class this summer. It meets about 6 hours a week and goes till about October.

What I'm wondering is, is it wise for me to take the SAT in October then the PSAT a week later? I really want to get them done early that way I have a reasonable amount of time to retake them till I reach my goal score, then take the ACT around January, then AP tests, and subject tests in June. Is this a bad idea? Should I just wait till I get my PSAT scores back that way I know what to work on?

I know there's a new policy of sorts that starts in March of 2009 that might affect this but I'm not all that sure about what it is or what it does.

Thanks for reading this! Please help me! My parents are kind of newbies to the whole college prep thing and think this is a good idea but I'm not so sure.

Yea it's fine to take the SAT and PSAT so close together. I took the ACT the same month as the PSAT, and it didn't create problems. And if you take the SAT early, you can retake it later in the year if necessary.

I have the same dilemma. I am going to talk with the counselor at my school when I go back after the summer. What I think I'm going to do is take it in november so I can use the PSAT as kind of a warm-up. Hope this helps!
