SAT or ACT-Indian

which test is best and easier
is it SAT or ACT
what is the exam fee of SAT/ACT?
i am >18

check this out <a href=“ACT vs. SAT - The New York Times”>ACT vs. SAT - The New York Times;

Most will start with the SAT.

None is better in general.
None is easier in general.

Don’t know about ACT. However, the SAT is relatively expensive because of it’s India/Pakistan surcharge, over the International fee.

If you response implies the question of which is better for Indians - there is no answer to that. Some individuals find one easier over another.

I’ll post some links here (sources) if I feel like going to the SAT website today :p

SAT Vs ACT - the choice has to be made by you.
ACT has Science portion too. ACT is faster but easier in English(that is my opinion of course!). A person of maths/science would probably fair well in ACT than SAT.
If you are a good reader of english books and have a good vocabulary, SAT would probably be better.

It is completely up to you, which one you will prefer! You can give Both!

i am good at math and science
i am not a regular reader of books but my language is good enough
i read few motivational books
well i have completed 12th ( too late)

did i forget to say that i’ve read few novels

That’s great! However, memorizing a few words from the Direct Hits books (two volumes, 200 words each).

ok thanx tizil for ur advice
i have decided to take ACT
Is it mandatory for me to take SAT 2 along with it

Some colleges require it.

pls provide me the link or list Castiel
Well if i take ACT can i skip SAT 1

yeah, u don’t have to write both, but then again its your choice.

[Compass: Admissions Requirements](<a href=“SAT Subject Test Requirements and Recommendations - Compass Education Group”>SAT Subject Test Requirements and Recommendations - Compass Education Group)

This will help.

Yep, you don’t have to take both the SAT and ACT. However, some do. You’ll need to take the ACT with writing section though. That offered to internationals only a limited number of times per year.

Also, you’ll have to take the SAT Subject tests, if you’re applying to a college that recommends / requires them.

@tizil7 can u pls gimme examples of those colleges which needs sat 2

For Colleges requiring SAT 2s, it would be much more easier if you have your own list of about 20 colleges to start with, and then narrow down to the program that you are interested in and then look for SAT requirements for that program.

Much more efficient and practical way to figuring out stuff on your own. I would advise you to start and then if you cannot find the info, post a question specific to that college. You will get a prompt answer or a link from somebody on this forum.

thanx a lot anialways
any advice to this newbie is accepted

You can take either ACT or SAT I.

Top colleges like Ivies, MIT, Caltech, CMU, michigan etc and many others require SAT II in 2 subjects. Some do not require but still “recomend” SAT II.

But if you are good at maths and science as you claimed earlier, then SAT IIs are not difficult(maths and science tests). So no need to worry!

Make a list of colleges of your choice(12-15), and see which of them require you to take SAT II.

The reason I said to make a list of Colleges and keep the number to 20-25, because you will be editing it again eventually to 10-12 as you narrow down your preferences in terms of size, strength of program, location, cost, acceptance rate, diversity etc. So always better to start with a big list so that one has enough options by the time it is time to take a final decision.
