SAT or ACT required for International student with IB in AMerica?

hey, i want to know whether it's necessary for all the American universities to apply with the SAT or ACT or whether it's okay to just apply with only the IB program (as an international student). I went for a visit at NYU and they said that only your IB predictions are enough to apply with.

Please only answer if you have solid experience with the IB program, and US admission!
Thanks a lot!
Your help is greatly appreciated.

The vast majority of US universities will look for an SAT/ACT score. If it is not offered in your country, for students who cannot afford to travel to take it, contact the schools to ask about special consideration.

Thanks Hanna, I just wanted to know if the SAT or ACT is necessary as it’s offered at my school.

Yes, to maximize opportunities in the US, take one of these tests.

There are schools that don’t require the SAT (or the ACT, but that’s probably not available abroad), but so many do that you are probably better off just taking it. If you want a list of schools that don’t require the SAT it’s here: http://www.fairtest.org/</a> but be careful some will want other sorts of evidence of the quality of your curriculum and some require tests for scholarships. You are always best off reading each college’s requirements, especially the sections where they address international students.

Fwiw, NYU is a bit different from most schools. It is important to read the instructions school by school and check the accepted documents. You might have to present the TOEFL as well. The IB has different sets of requirements:

and compare to each one of your targets.
