SAT practice tips and advice for >1500

I’ve taken four of the official SAT practice tests. My scores are summarized below:
- Practice test 1: 1470(760M, 710R&W)
- Practice test 2: 1470(730M, 740R&W)
- Practice test 3: 1500(780M, 720R&W)
- Practice test 4: 1510(760M, 750R&W)

I got a 1450/1520(750M, 700R&W) on PSAT which I took in October 2016.

My biggest weakness seems to be the reading section. I often have time management issues with it. I usually just barely manage to finish it. How could I improve my score there? I find the ‘History and Social studies’ passages challenging.

My writing section is strong in general, I usually miss out on writing style(“where should this sentence be placed”, “best preserves the meaning of” etc) type of questions.

I don’t usually have problems coping with the questions on the math section. However, I often end up losing marks to ‘careless mistakes’.

I’ll be taking SAT later this year. I have been working through the problems on Khanacademy. How should I plan my study?

Any specific tips?

Khan and practice tests. At this level it’s not about knowing content, it’s about recognizing problem types, how CB decides what the ‘right’ answer is, etc. Focus on fully analyzing and understanding questions you get wrong. If you marked them, re-try those you got wrong on the first 4 tests and see if the lessons from them stuck with you.
