SAT Prep over summer

Hi. I'm going to be a high school senior next fall and I've taken the SAT twice. Here are my scores:
May 3rd: 1920 (620 CR, 630 M, 670 W)
June 7th: 1950 (630 CR, 690 M, 630 W)
9 on the essay each time

I realize that these are respectable scores but I'm not very happy with them, especially the fact that I dropped by 40 points in Writing. I plan on prepping a lot over the summer to get my scores up. So far I've been doing a section every day(mostly CR) in my Princeton Review book.

I was wondering if anybody has any tips on prep over the summer(Am I doing too much/too little?) and what I can expect as a reasonable jump of increase after prepping everyday until OCT 11.

Hey! I’m pretty much in the same boat as you; although, I have never taken the SAT for real yet( but in the practice tests on on the BB by CB I average around 1920). I have also dedicated this summer for some serious prep. From CC forums and other websites I have accumulated many useful tips.

First off, I suggest you increase the amount of sections you do from the BB (not the princton book because they are not real College Board questions) each day. I for example, do at least 2 timed sections from the BB each day and then review the questions I missed. This is really important because I heard that the more questions you do each day, the easier and the faster you will become at them.

Second, I suggest you buy prep books for the section(s) you are weakest at. At the moment, I am doing poorly on the Writing section (I get low 600s). So, I bought the Ultimate Guide to SAT Grammar by Erica Meltzer.

Third, study your vocab for the CR section each day. Direct Hits vocab books are probably the most loved here on CC.

Well there it is. That’s pretty much all the tips I can give you. Btw, I really suggest you to ditch the Princeton Review book and work on actual CB questions from the BB. Use the Princeton book AFTER you have exhausted all practice tests made by CB.

Here are the books I suggest for each section:
Math: PWN the SAT math book
CR: The Critical Reader by Erica Meltzer
Writing (only the mc): The Ultimate Guide to SAT Grammar by Erica Meltzer

^Excellent advice
