Hey guys i have a question on the QOTD.
The Official SAT Question of the Day

i understand the explanation but is there a diferent way?
Cause i first tried it this way:
(2/20+4/50+x/100)3=.08

i got 6 as X. can anyone tell me what i did wrong?

The way you tried that problem is incorrect because it is not taking the average price of all of the marbles. That way would take the average price of marbles in the 20-bag, in the 50-bag, in the 100-bag, and would multiply that by 3. That wouldn’t yield the average properly. There might be a different way, but I suppose that the way they did it (take the (prices + X) / (total number of marbles) = $0.08) would be the most direct way.

You’re equation is incorrect. It should be (2+4+x)/170=0.08
U take the total numerator divided by the total denominator for the average price.

Awl apoc, u beat me by a few seconds. Anyway…

Solve for x.
0.08 times 170 is 13.6
13.6-4-2=$7.60

Thanks guys! Yeah my equation is def incorrect cause id be taking the average of each and then yeah.
I guess i shud change my name :(
