SAT Reading Struggles

Hi everyone,

I will be taking SAT 1 in May. The first time I took it in January I got 2190 (700CR 710M 780W) - I usually got 800’s in math in my mocks so it was a bit of a shock but I was satisfied with my reading and writing scores.

However, now I really want to improve my CR score. I usually get 680 in mocks and 700/710 when I’m lucky. I’ve been reading and trying out various tips I could find, but they don’t seem to make much impact. I am desperate to get 750+ because I am aiming for Ivy League unis.

Vocab is not a problem for me because I rarely get sentence completion wrong. The problem is that I sometimes come across a passage that I don’t understand well compared to other types. I don’t really know what genre they come under but they talk about abstract stuff. Does anyone have any suggestions that could help me improve? Thanks!

Well, you see critical reading is all about understanding what is the passage about.
My teacher gave me this tip to do wen I’m studying. He told me to read each paragraph and write next to each paragraph i read what did I understand then try solving .
It helps you analyze the passage in your head, therefore when you are solving “timed” passages you would be analyzing the passage in your head …
I really hope this works for you.
