Hello fellow CC's. I've taken the SAT reasoning once last December. I got an overall of 1680 (CR 670 M 530 W 480). I now am planning on taking it again this weekend. I was planning on hardcore studying after the AP tests, but nevertheless that did not occur. I took a practice test from the blue book and decreased in CR but went up in W. My math score remained the same. Other than taking practice tests, which SAT book should i get for Math? And please be specific, as I've seen on Amazon there is many books from Greuber, PR, etc. I feel that I might need some help with some concepts and preferably a book with plenty of practice problems. I know that for the June SAT I might do that much of an improvement, but I ordered the Question N' Answer option so over the summer I can study even moreso and take the SAT oncemore before this upcoming winter of my senior year. Thanks!

I have a pretty strong math base but I felt like the math section in Gruber’s complete SAT guide helped me the most. It is extremely comprehensive and detailed, and will prepare you well for the sat. I’m not sure about specific math workbooks though, but since the 2011 grubers guide is about 10$ on amazon, its a pretty good deal. Just one question, what level of math are you in at your high school class?

I’m in Pre-calculus. Are there any other books worth mentioning?
Thanks again for answering!

^ I’m in pre-calculus as well and thought that it was more than enough preparation for me to get my 760 (I though I was going to get an 800). I think its all about just doing the practice and getting use to the questions. Also, I would develop a strategy that works for you in the M sections. For me, I go through all of the Q’s really quickly, like in 10-12 minutes and skip any that i can’t do within a minute. I then go back and check each problem and work on the hard problems in my remaining time. Don’t waste time on questions that are taking up too much time. I don’t think there are any other books you need besides the blue book with all of its M sections and Grubers to assist you in some more specific details.

My Pre-cal teacher is a joke. His tests are just like the practice tests he’s given us over the year. I feel like the little I’ve learned has always been the week before the test, so I haven’t retained any of it. BTW While I wait for the Greuber’s book to ship, what should i do for the remainer of the week? I have the 2nd edition of the BB, and Princetons review 11 practice tests, and Princetons SAT Math Levels 1 and 2. Should i do some of the problems from the princeton 11 practice tests or the math lvl 1 n 2 book?

I would definitely go over some of Princeton review’s practice tests. I think I’ve actually taken all 11 in my preparation for the SAT (I’ve probably taken over 30 practice tests total) and they were pretty helpful. I don’t know about the math lvl 1 section, but from my experience, going over math level 2 problems don’t help all that much for the SAT 1 M section becuase most of the information covered, like limits, matrices, etc… aren’t ever going to be on the SAT 1.

try out barrons 2400… some very difficult problems. If u end up getting stuck at around a 700 go with Crush the SAT math prep. It has hundreds of math problems that are INSANELY hard… I consistently only get 6-7 right out of 10. Good luck!
