SAT Score Choice and Superscoring

I don't really know the difference between the two. Can someone please elucidate on this? I know that score choice is that you send the best scores altogether on a specific sat date and super scoring is combining different parts...? Someone please explain? Thanks.

Super Scoring is done by the colleges, not the applicants. The colleges that super-score, generally speaking, look at all the scores you send them, and pick the highest set. Score choice is what the applicant does - deciding what set of scores (all from a given date) to send.
It’s important to note that this is an ever-changing area as well. Some schools want all your scores, some accept score choice, some super-score, some don’t. And, doubtless, more complications are on the way.

Superscore: assume you send college two SAT scores, one is 600 CR, 700M, and 700 writing, other one is 700CR, 650M, 650 writing. Score used for admission will be 700CR, 700M, and 700 writing – they use the highest section scores from the multiple tests.

Score choice: when you request College Board to send official scores to a college, CB will send all scores it has for you unless you choose otherwise; you can choose which particluar tests not to send.

Rule of colleges: many allow you to use score choice and thus not send scores you do not like. However, many are currently requiring any applicant to submit all scores and not exercise score choice. As to superscoring, most private universities do it, most public universities do not (but instead use for admission that test score with the highest composite score).
