<p>Hi, so I know that UT Austin is doing the whole 7% auto admit thing, but I'm only in the top 15% at my school. I had heard that if you got a certain SAT score, they would let you in regardless of rank.
Does anyone know what that number is?</p>

<p>I seriously doubt that UT has an automatic admit for certain SAT scores. I suspect a lot of non-athletes who are admitted have a high SAT scores but I would think that they have a high test scores and a lot of other things going for them. I have two friends who had kids attending TAMS and were told to apply to Rice as their backup schools to UT because if you aren’t in the top X percent for that year, you just couldn’t tell who would get in.</p>

<p>UT-Austin does not have an academic auto-admit program for students outside of the 7%. TAMU does. 30 ACT or a 1300 SAT and top 25% will get you into TAMU. (And a little fine print to read.)</p>
